A lot has happened in the past 6 months...

Babies have been born (Hannah Pardoe and Ellie Donnan), people have been
married (Pete&Kerry, Lorraine&Denis), people have gotten
engaged (Anna&Stephen) and we've just gotten back from hols!! Hooray for

Hi, can't believe I haven't blogged the whole summer! This is just a quick one, I'll try to get all the info down!

I got my degree, 2nd class honours - yay! Then I went on to do a 4-week film making course in the Irish Film Academy which was brilliant and I'm going to keep writing and developing my scripts. We've moved and moved again and now we're on Parkgate Street, same complex as Anna and Brian so that's fun! Got a job (today!) working for the Lisa Richards Agency (check out their website - lisarichards.ie) as a receptionist so that's very exciting!

We've just about got ourselves settled into the new flat and we cannot wait to have people over so don't wait for an invite just come out for dinner and a dvd and some laughs (not many, just some!). Looking forward to being a hostess again - sorry we don't have a sea view, but there is a Liffey river view...mmm, nice.

Important notice: September 15th, CORE church Thomas Street. Anna is putting on a concert of her music to fundraise for Grandmas India. It'll be a great night, with great music - Jay and I will be involved in the choons. There'll be a wine reception too, you can't ask for more than that...really you can't, we won't allow it. 14euro at the door or 10euro if you prebook with myself, Jay or Anna! Please along, it's a very worthy cause!

It's been a while...

So much news and "interesting" things going on in our lives since I last posted. The main thing being I finished my finals and am now a graduand (not a student, not quite a graduate!). I've been quite chilled about the job search but am getting increasingly worried that a degree in English, Media and Cultural Studies means absolutely nought; that said there are several avenues that I am exploring in terms of gaining experience, particularly in the media sector, and am sure that all will be well! Jay has been steadily recording his songs and they sound really great - thanks Stu for your help and bottles of wine on a Tuesday evening!

Joanna's school play was last week: they did West Side Story (quite apt for Lucan, I reckon!). It was brilliant and I was sooo proud of my little sis! That was Friday: on Saturday (at some silly time of the morning) Jay and I headed to Edinburgh! I love that city, it's so beautiful. We went to hear a friend of Jay's who has a 16-piece gospel-funk group - they were amazing! It was like Kirk Franklin but with Scottish-sounding raps! Dave is a legend, a brilliant performer and his heart to use gospel music and lyrics unashamedly to bring a bit of hope and joy to Edinburgh is a beautiful (and terribly funky) thing!
While in Edinburgh we stayed in the most wonderful hotel! It's a big old Georgian house completely done up - four floors of 1930s style elegance, with a rather large drawing room accompanied by a free bar and a baby grand piano: me sipping a class of (free) Chateau Neuf de Pape and Jay playing some delicate jazz...we were in heaven! There was also a pool table and vast library - we barely made it out of the hotel! And you'd think that something like that would be ridiculously expensive? Not so! I would tell you how much we paid, but it wasn't bad!

Unfortunately, we came home on Monday night to some rather sad news - the lease on our flat isn't being renewed so we have to move out by the end of June. We're both so sad to be leaving Sandycove - such a beautiful area and a beautiful little flat. We feel it has so much personality (more than many generic apartments being built these days) and we're going to miss our home. However we really do feel that God has been stirring us recently and preparing us for change - we feel very excited about what's next for Team Wilson and are very excited (if not a wee bit apprehensive) about the next steps, but with me finished college and us having to move out it feels like quite an adventure to have all of ones proverbial balls in the air at once! :)

The gig at Slatterys was brilliant - it was a fab venue and we packed it out! So proud of Jay and all his new songs went down really well! Jilly was superbly amazing too (check out the link to her webpage for more up-coming gigs), but I think the highlight was Chris' 5 minute outro at the end of the night! Thanks for these pics Saj!

Jill Deering is playing Slatterys on Capel Street on Monday 10th April and Jay will be supporting her...you can support them both (ha, see what I did there?!) by coming along, paying a mere 5 euro and cheering loudly! Doors at 8pm, be there on time, if not early...you will NOT regret it!

Ok, so it was last week but I've been busy, plus Jay kept taking the camera to work with him! He got an ipod nano and a model smart car from me...that's what's in the picture!
Hmmm, let me think, any...other...news...?? Oh yes - I finished my dissertation todaaaaay!!! Hooray! Such a relief - I'm scared to read over it again in case something's wrong - I've already spotted a "was" where it's meant to say "is"! So now I just have three more assignments to hand in and exams in May and I'll be a real proper grown up. Mmm, we'll see...!

On www.lastfm.com (type Jay Wilson in to the search) he's put up his three songs: You Make My Day, Raise Your Glasses and Nothing In This World. If I'm not mistaken they are downloadable!

On www.sibeliusmusic.com (type Jonathan Wilson in the search then click on his name when you find it) he's got his sheet music up for; an arrangement of Auld Lang Syne, When I Survey, O Lord Save Thy Servent, which he wrote for Jon Kissell's installation and the piece he wrote for our wedding called Veiled.

Hi! Here's some stuff we've been doing and will be doing...

February 4th-5th: Mullingar Christian Fellowship had a wonderful evening of International cuisine on Saturday 4th for the official opening of their new building. Jay, myself, Dave, Peter, Ravi and Stu provided the choons and had a really great night. We ate some wonderful food - actually didn't have a clue what it was, but it was good! Then we stayed with Mike & Naomi and Patrick & Niamh (and little Annelie & Rebecca) - thank you all for your hospitality and food! And thanks to Gary for the photos!

Last night myself, Jay, Stu & Ravi went to see the Brad Mehldau Trio in Vicar St. It was a really great gig - amazing musicians: very entertaining, they did some great covers of Radiohead and Sound Garden! I felt a bit out of place with the three jazzheads - they actually nearly had an arguement over what time signature one of the songs was... Jay summed up the evening as a mix of inspiration and frustration!! The Trio have a new album out - Day Is Done - check it out!

Coming up...
February 13th-15th: Jay and I are heading over to Glasgow to see Ashley Cruthers. Our good friend has been living in England for the past couple of years and is a wonderful singer/songwriter. She's putting together an album of original material and has asked us to be a part of the record. We're so excited and feel very privileged to be a part of it! Looking forward to a nice Valentine's Day away too!

February 26th: Jay has recently become a member of the New Dublin Voices and they have a concert coming up - Ciao Italia - in The National Gallery. All welcome to support our little songbird - it's at 3pm, tickets are 10euro and are available from Opus II or at the door!

Sweet 16 today!

Had a great weekend with the siblings (and Brian!) Went bowling on Sunday and had so much fun! Whenever I steal the pictures from Joanna, I'll post some on the blog!

Went to see The New World on Saturday. Colin Farrddle's latest. Jay, Brian and myself really enjoyed it, but I've never been to a film where so many people left before the end and there was a resounding and collective laugh as the credits began to roll (let me just clarify this was not because it was a comedy!) It is the latest film from director Terrence Malick - amazingly only his 4th film in 30 years!! He directed Badlands (1973) which starred a young (pre-presidential!) Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek. He also directed The Thin Red Line (1998) which had an amazing cast, including Sean Penn, Adrien Brody, James Caviezel, George Clooney, John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Jared Leto, Nick Nolte and John C. Reilly.
As I said, we really enjoyed The New World, but I do understand why people didn't like it - it's quite slow moving at times, and there are long drawn out scenes without dialogue and less action than I was expecting, with only one "battle" scene that neither lasted very long or was very gorey (I am quite glad of that though!) Colin Farrell is surprisingly good - gentle and careful with his character - not the gung-ho hero but emotional and vulnerable...still with a strong Dub accent though, which was slightly off-putting!! Christian Bale is great too and Q'Orianka Kilcher (the 14-year-old (!) who plays Pocahontas) is truly wonderful.

I would recommend it...but don't blame me if you don't enjoy it!!

Hahahaha!! Just saw Starsky & Hutch for the first time last night! Sooo funny! I hadn't heard great reviews about it when it came out so I wasn't too pushed about seeing it but it's really great! There was a couple of Zoolander moments between Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, but they work so well together! The "frat-pack" guys are great - Afternoon Delight featuring once again, although the ultimate is Anchorman! Snizzle Dizzle (Snooooop) was also surprisingly good...although I don't think much acting was going on there!! Oh Snoop, "you are the height of too-muchness!"

I also watched Batman (the first movie) last night...I was "researching" for the dissertation! I have just started a Gothic and Horror in Film and Literature course in college, so I'm really looking forward to analysing my Tim Burton films...the monster within, disfigurement, madness of the mind, the psychology of horror! Yay! Funtimes!!

We had this idea to use the blog as a site to review films that we watch...we don't have a tv, you see, so we've been watching a LOT of films recently, both on dvd and in the cinema!

Here are some films that you can look forward to Jenny and Jay's personal insights...with quick reviews!

* King Kong - Excellent, go and see it!!
* The Producers - Hmmm, wouldn't waste my time or money!
* The Big Kahuna - Really very, very good! Love Kevin Spacey and Danny Di Vito is excellent...very thought provoking
* Before Sunrise - beautifully romantic, very real, very natural - looking forward to watching the sequel 'Before Sunset'
* The Cooler - very good, we like William H. Macy and Alec Baldwin is scaarieee! Funny moments, but also some quite brutally violent moments...definitely one to watch with a pillow to hide behind!

Hallo everyone!

Christmas was lovely! We had our families over, which was lovely - Jay cooked a mighty fine ham and despite his best efforts to look stressed, he wasn't fooling anybody with that apron/santa hat combo! What a man! After LOTS of food we watched a dvd and all fell asleep! We watched Madagascar (courtesy of Ms Finch!) and afterwards we had to do all we could from crying with laughter as our mothers repeatedly sang "I like to move it move it!" Oh. No.
Then we had a very heated game of Trivial Pursuit, which ended in the mother of all show-downs - me and Anna vs. my dad and Joanna! They won...there will be a re-match!!

New Year's was great fun also! Stephen and Anna came over for dinner and more fun boardgame times...Stephen wiped the floor with all of us at Monopoly - the boy had a strategy, what can I say?! At 11.55, we four huddled around an open window (with "Celebrate Good Times" blaring in the background!) as Jay popped open the champagne! Then after too many glasses of wine and vanilla vodka cream liquer I wished everyone a properous 2007...then went to bed!
Since then, I have been mostly (explaining and excusing the 2007 text message! and...) studying! Yes, one exam over, one to go! Today's went really well, I'm really pleased with it! Tomorrow could be a whole different kettle of fish, but we'll see!

A lot of our friends have blogspots and we thought that our life was interesting too, so we have set up a new blogspot for ourselves! We did have an msn space but clever Jenny decided to delete her hotmail account and now we can't access the space to update it! Christmas is in a few days and we're looking forward to it! We got our tree up last week - Jay carried it all the way from Dun Laoghaire and wanted to throw me over the other shoulder and look manly but I wouldn't allow it!
We're having the families over to us for Christmas day - should be a great day, provided we don't burn the ham, overcook the vegetables or undercook the potatoes!
